Dem Bones!

How to play

Open this page on your computer. Then scan the QR code on your phone. Move the phone like the controls of a marionette puppet: the skeleton on the screen will follow your movements (spooky!).

If the controls seem "off", hold your phone flat while you press the "Recalibrate" button. Normally, you should be able to...

↕️ Tip forwards and backwards to control the arms
↔️ Twist side to side to control the legs
🔄 Turn on the spot to move from side to side

What is this?

A silly game made by for Weird Web October 2026's prompt 22: "skeletons". It's partially inspired by the things I learned implementing a Web + phone based driving game in 2017.

Big thanks to Wynn for the background tiles, to JTA and Noah for useful early feedback, and Oli for iOS compatibility testing. Also thanks to Amy and Chris for additional testing, and of course I'm grateful everybody who's said encouraging things about my earlier efforts this year. Oh, and shout out to dogspinner whose audio implementation I learned useful things from.

Troubleshooting

This project was thrown-together quickly and makes use of some Web features that don't yet work in every browser. If you have trouble, try using the latest version of Firefox, Edge or Chrome on your computer and phone.

Hold your phone flat with the screen facing up, then press Start.
